To get the most from Fjällräven Classic UK and stay safe in nature, you need to have the right clothing and equipment. That’s why we’ve deemed some equipment mandatory (marked with an asterisk). Please go through the list thoroughly to see what you have and what you need to get. Don’t worry! If you forget something you can always buy it in Blair Atholl as we’ll have our own mini-store on site.
We will perform random equipment controls at the start, just to make sure you have all the mandatory equipment. By bringing the mandatory equipment, we know that you will be able to survive a forced break for several hours. In the case of an emergency, notify other trekkers and ask them to inform an official of the situation at the next checkpoint. Help will come, but it may take time due to the remote location. With a tent, sleeping mat and a sleeping bag, you will have the best chance of surviving until help arrives.
During Fjällräven Classic UK you are responsible for your safety. If something happens which causes you to have to stay longer at one spot than you had planned during the trek, the mandatory items we have outlined are necessary for your wellbeing. Therefore, it is very important to carry your own gear.
However, if you’re hiking in a group, some of the items in the list may be shared with your fellow trekkers. If you are sharing equipment, you must stay together during the hike.
Items that may be shared between participants include:
If you do not have an item from the list of mandatory equipment, you will not be allowed to take part in Fjällräven Classic UK. At the start of the trek, we will randomly check to see whether participants have their mandatory equipment.
If you realise you’re missing any mandatory equipment when you arrive at Blair Atholl, you will have the possibility to purchase items from the Fjällräven mini-store on site. Please be aware that stock availability at this mini-store will be limited, but there are large, well-stocked outdoor shops in towns on route to Classic UK.
