In 2016, Classic USA was the start of a whole new chapter in the Fjällräven Classic USA. It was the first Classic to take place outside of Europe, and it also brings a new dimension to Classic trekking: altitude. In 2019, we’re back bigger and better than ever for 30+ miles of challenges in learning and fun in the Colorado Rockies. Learn more about this epic trek where you will find out about caring for nature while hiking through amazing terrain.
The Fjällräven Classic concept started in northern Sweden in 2005. Our goal was to help and inspire more people to get outdoors and reconnect with nature. After many successful years and a growing number of participants, in 2013 we decided to add a new classic in Denmark. This Classic was to show people that nature needn’t be far away. In fact, it can be found in your own backyard.
Although thousands of people travel to Classics in Sweden and Denmark we wanted to open up the Classic concept and introduce more people to the Fjällräven way of trekking: with all you need on your back, in good company and respecting nature.
In 2016, we took Classic across the pond. This first small-scale event was more of a trial run. To test the waters. But feedback was great; the Classic concept had won over US trekkers. Building on Leave No Trace guidelines, we continue to educate trekkers about caring for the environment while hosting them on a challenging and rewarding journey through the mountains.
